How can trash help to fight COVID-19?
Welcome to our latest edition of the Friday Download! We have plenty of news for you, so let’s jump right in -
🌍 The Importance of Mapping Governance
Who gets the final say on how to respond to the pandemic? What are the decisions based on or the parameter for choosing a task force to do this work? Transparency around this is vital during a pandemic and this is why Jean-Benoit Falisse and his team at the University of Edinburgh are focused on tracking these decisions. Read the latest profile on their amazing work.
🙌 Sharing Oxygen Know How
You may have heard that our first Oxygen CoLab meetup took place in February. We were thrilled to be joined by experts from so many incredible organisations, all offering their knowledge around finding solutions to providing Oxygen Concentrators in low resource settings. We’re proud to be able to share our findings from that meeting as we move forward with the Oxygen CoLab work. Read all about it here.
That’s not all! The Oxygen CoLab has more workshops coming up. We're calling for engineers, academics and thought leaders to join these conversations that will lead to vital product improvements.
You'll get to meet others working in this space and contribute to UNICEF's Oxygen Concentrator Target Product Profile. If you or someone you know are into this topic, share your interest with us here, or sign up for the next event on March 11th. We’re building a community to solve this innovation challenge and we’d love to continue this journey with you.
💡 How can trash save lives?
Working with surprising innovators is what we do and GIVO (Garbage In Value Out) is no different as it works to turn waste into PPE and other life-saving items. Victor Boyle-Komolafe, co-founder of GIVO, shared his experience of the pandemic and why he is working to respond to COVID-19 in the best way he can. Read his thoughts on this and the importance of the circular economy in our latest profile.
We’re excited to have so much going on and plenty coming up to share with you too as we publish more reports and innovator news. If you don’t want to miss out on our latest updates you can follow our Medium and Twitter posts and of course let your friends know if they might like to explore tech innovation and development with us by signing up to this newsletter.
Have a great weekend!
