Data Challenge Showcase Highlights!
Hello there,
We’re not even done with January and we already have a special edition of the Friday Download for you!
📊 #DoingDataRight
On Thursday we ran the COVIDaction Data Challenge Showcase and it was amazing!
We covered a range of topics from epi modelling to wider concerns about data protection and much more in between.
More than 200 people attended the session. It’s brilliant to see that so many people are interested and concerned about the way data is used.
Al Kags of Open Institute dropped wisdom - “There is no agreed sense of principles that constitute a strong data ecosystem and so policymakers are not being properly engaged with these ecosystems. That’s the biggest barrier we are facing”
We took the conversation outside the room. If you look for the hashtag #DoingDataRight on Twitter you can see some of the people who made their presentations, and attended the session, picked out their favourite points to share further with their online communities.
Got FOMO? No problem! We made a recording of the session and you can watch it here. Over the coming weeks we’ll be cutting clips and sharing them in articles and over social media.
🏆 The Data Challenge 12 awardees
We’ve made 12 awards so far via the global call for data innovation, you can read all about them here. We’re excited and proud to be involved in their journey as they pivot, evolve, grow and scale to assist LMICs in their efforts to help with delivery of responses to COVID-19.
We hope you are able to dip into the recording of the data event and share it with anyone you know who might be intrigued to meet data innovators.
In the meantime, don’t forget you can still share our news with friends as well as following our Medium and Twitter posts.
Until the next episode -
